Favor and Influence

The Lady's Favor is a common name for the invisible currency of power in Sigil–“power” meaning “influential factors” rather than magical power or physical strength. Like Favor, Influence is the common name for the currency of power in the Outlands. Unlike the Cage, without a government in control of the Outlands, citizens of the area look to organized Guilds for guidance and protection.

Earning Favor/Influence is only possible in a Guild, as spending is only possible for a Guild. Thus, all currency earned by Guild members is totaled and displayed on the HUD. Both are resources that decay over time at a very slow rate, much like a group would eventually fall out of favor after some time of inactivity.

If players wish to track their Guild's progress or make sure they were given points for a specific deed, they may view the Favor and Influence Tracker. All Guilds have their own tab–simply click along the tabs at the bottom to view.

Admin Note:

This system is still in development. As such, the methods for earning points, losing points, and spending points may be changed and added to as we continue to tweak and balance the system. Any changes to earnings will always be applied retroactively, as not to leave any guild behind that has put in their effort.

While the HUD is still being implemented, Guilds will be able to view their point totals as text displayed above an hourglass placed within their Guild Hall.

How to Report Earning/Losses or Spend Points

Much like a typical roleplay notecard system for receiving experience points, Favor/Influence will be handled in a similar fashion. Create a notecard with the following title format:

Account Name/Date/Guild Name

In the notecard, please give a short summary of the method that your character used to earn/lose Favor/Influence. Then paste a cleaned-up copy of all pertinent roleplay below the summary. Save the card, ensure it is full permissions, then drop it into the hourglass-shaped dropbox located in the OOC area.

Cards are counted every Saturday night at 11:59 PM SLT.

To spend your earned points, please send an in-world message to an admin.

What Else are Points For?

In Sigil

Once per month, a chosen representative from each of the three Guilds with the highest amount of points will meet with a chosen representative from each of the three Factions to discuss recent happenings, new business, legislation changes, and so on. These meetings are optional, but the characters involved do have the power to change local laws and enforce their own agenda, as Faction representatives will be encouraged to mediate, but not outright block, any major changes to local laws that players wish to make.

These meetings will take place on the first Friday of every month at 5:00 PM SLT. The meetings will take place in the City Court. Outsiders may sit in on the meetings, but are considered observers and have no voice unless called upon to bring their business to the table.

In the Outlands

Just like Sigil, once per month, a chosen representative from each of the three Guilds with the highest amount of points will meet. Unlike Sigil, the structure of these meetings will be governed by those present. The duration of these meetings will be considered an armistice, and while threats of violence may be made, to draw weapons or spill blood during these meetings can be interpreted as an act of war.

These meetings are optional, but encouraged.

These meetings will take place on the first Friday of every month at 6:00 PM SLT. The meetings will take place in the church in Everdawn. Outsiders may sit in on the meetings, but are considered observers and have no voice unless called upon to bring their business to the table.
